Case History Local Health Centre Reggio Emilia

The Local Health Centre in Reggio Emilia covers the whole Reggio Emilia province, which includes 45 municipalities and over 450,000 inhabitants.
As is the case with all health departments, documents must be sent to citizens who use the health services provided.
These documents are produced by various people and departments on different premises (various health centres and 5 hospitals).


Client requirements


The client needed to improve the creation and production process for communicating with citizens.

Issues for improvement were identified as:

• Difficulty in retrieving information.
• Extreme difficulty in communicating between departments within their areas of responsibility, in terms of content and/or approval.
• Lack of autonomy in document creation and management.
• Manual processing procedures for printing, envelope insertion, and mailing with higher costs for staff dealing with low-level tasks.
• Timescales for generating new types of communication.
• Excessive workload in the IT area.
• Excessive costs.


Project objectives were:


• Simplify processes for creating and sending documents.
• Improvement in communication between internal and external users.
• Rationalise costs.


Solution proposed by Selecta


Selecta created a shared environment for the Reggio Emilia Health Centre, by using an Internet/Intranet portal to manage the communication to be created and sent.

The portal allows:

  • Selection of the document template in which to write or paste text.
  • An actual test print, by downloading a PDF file.
  • A view of the progress status of the communication produced.

  3. Invitations with acknowledgment of receipt
  4. Mailing and printing of medical reports for laboratory analysis
  5. Invoices with or without bulletins
  6. General GP communication
